Growing Up at Zion

By on February 12, 2018 in News & Musings

When my parents, Erick and Emma Nelson, emigrated to America from their homeland, Sweden, they settled in Minneapolis and became members of Zion Swedish Lutheran Church. As a child, I had their directive to “walk to Zion for Sunday School”.

Now, Salem Lutheran Church was just down the street from our house, but the feeling of my folks was that it was important for me to go to a Swedish Lutheran Church! I put up a fuss about having to walk a mile to Sunday School. Mom said she’d fix me a good cup of coffee with lots of cream and sugar before my walk. I said YES to that!

I participated in Zion’s ministry all my growing up years. Now, in my full life of 90 years, I thank Zion Church so very much for my development of enduring faith.
