In 1998, Zion became a Reconciling in Christ congregation. That means the congregation officially voted to be open and welcoming to our LGBTQ brothers and sisters in Christ. We believe all people are created in the image of God and that there is a place for everyone in the body of Christ and God’s family at Zion. We recognize that the institutional church has been a source of hurt and shame for many, so we do our very best to create a safe space for welcome and healing for all.

Sunday Morning Learning & Sharing
Forums are held on the first Sunday of each month. These educational events include spiritual discussions and presentations from our partners in ministry. Popular forums include news from Lyndale School, Parish Nursing, Youth Farm, Lutheran World Relief, Cherish All Children, and Luther Park Bible Camp.

Bible Studies are held on the third Sunday of each month. This spring we will invite conversation and study about faith, scripture, and citizenship. These sessions will introduce us to spiritual disciplines that can support our faith and hope in a season of division and tension in American politics. This will be a safe conversation for all political persuasions and a chance to develop a deeper theological language for today’s world.

Summer Day Camp for Kids

Zion collaborates with more than twelve other small congregations in south Minneapolis to provide a fantastic week of faith, fun, and learning. This summer’s camp hosted almost 100 kids and we had a blast!
