Holy Week

By on April 9, 2020 in News & Musings

Hello Zion,I hope this Holy Week finds you well. We have traditionally has not done all ‘three days’ of Holy Week (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil). Josiah, David Langemo and I have prepared a Way to the Cross Holy Week service for you. It is a quiet service of reflection, scripture readings, hymns and art pieces from the Smithsonian American Art Musuem. Here is the video, the bulletin and you can read more about the art pieces (ttps://artandtheology.org/2018/02/11/saamstations/ ).  If we could gather in person, we would be doing this here at Zion at 7PM, but feel free to worship at time that works for you.

If you want to dive a little deeper into holy week worship- I know there are several other local churches producing good worship. For example- Our Saviors is doing a really fun Easter Vigil video for Saturday. (http://www.oursavioursmpls.org/). Have fun exploring and let us know what you find!Another fun opportunity- the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra is offering a rebroadcast of Bach’s Saint John Passion on Friday, April 10 at 8 pm and Saturday, April 11 at 3 pm. (https://content.thespco.org/music/concert-library/live-streams) Here is also some information about the concert that you might find helpful, the interview “Bach’s Saint John Passion in Context” with Kyu Kim, their Artistic Director, and Jonathan Cohen, the conductor:  https://www.thespco.org/blog/bachs-saint-john-passion-in-context. We are thinking of you and looking forward to ‘seeing’ you on Sunday through Zoom. We will send out another email on Sunday morning with details.

God’s peace to you!
