A Thanksgiving Eve Feast!

By on November 25, 2014 in Community

We have taken pictures each year, but they don’t this event justice. You see, the gift of Thanksgiving Eve at Zion is hard to capture unless you are there in the room.

The tables are set with real linens and festive centerpieces. Turkeys cook all week in prepTurkeyaration for the crowds. Donations come from members, neighbors, friends, and partner organizations. The organ tuner plans his fall visit on Wednesday morning so he can be part of the hustle and the joy. It smells delicious and he often leaves a cash donation before he goes.

There is always an impressive turnout and, if you spend a lot of time at Zion, you are overwhelmed by how many people are already at home here. ESL students, dinner regulars, the Recovery Worship community, families from Lyndale School, youth farm leaders, and members of two more congregations who call Zion home. People know they belong here and it’s beautiful to watch them mix and mingle with gratitude in mind.

Thanksgiving Eve is much more than the food or the space or the donations. It’s a crossroads in Lyndale. It’s a moment of grace. It is worth setting eyes on because it will inform your whole season. So join us for a feast at 6:00pm on Wednesday, November 26. You’ll be glad you did!

Enter through the blue office doors on the north side of the building and follow your nose downstairs.
